The month of May 2018 is Better Hearing & Speech Awareness Month!  And since we have a speech therapy team here at High Hopes that is dedicated year-round to the ideals of better hearing and speech, we thought it might be a good idea for this month’s staff spotlight to put our Lead Speech Therapist Elizabeth Sestini center-stage. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Elizabeth and her husband Mark came to Tennessee almost exactly two years ago, in May of 2016.  In July of that year, Elizabeth began working here at High Hopes.  Stepping into the relatively novel position of lead therapist on the speech therapy team after a year and a half with us, Elizabeth continues to treat as both a speech and feeding therapist while taking on the additional responsibilities and duties of a lead. Continuing our round robin of High Hopes’s esteemed directors, the spotlight now shines on the last of these fearless leaders: Melanie Anderson, our Director of Educational Services. This very day, as we publish this spotlight, Melanie celebrates six years of employment with High Hopes, having served the vast majority of that time in her current role. Melanie has remained the Director of Educational Services longer than any other who held the position in the last 15 years. During her time as Director, Melanie has implemented many new programs and protocols to enhance the preschool, fostered a supportive and fun-filled working environment, and completed a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management at Lipscomb University without ever missing a day. Learn how she came to High Hopes and w...

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on someone who generally likes to stay behind-the-scenes.  Hired 8 years ago on March 29, Cheryl Dean joined the High Hopes team with an enthusiasm that has yet to abate. Cheryl has taken on a variety of roles here at High Hopes, but the role she currently occupies is that of Director of Development & Marketing. We managed to snatch a few moments with this often on-the-go director, and we asked her to share about her job, her story, and herself.  Let’s get to know Cheryl!

Let’s get to know the director of our High Hopes Pediatric Therapy Clinic: Kristin Garner. Kristin has served on the High Hopes Board of Directors and as our Clinic Director for more than 13 years, in addition to being the proud parent of three High Hopes alumni.  She lives in Franklin with her husband Todd, their three children (eldest son Carson, and younger daughters Dylann and Emmy), and their “little white fluffball” of a dog (Ozzy).  We sat down with Kristin to learn about the journey she took to get here, the role she plays in our organization, and the adventures of her life outside these walls. This is what we learned.

We’d like to take a minute to get to know our Executive Director here at High Hopes, Gail Powell!  We sat down with Gail to pick her brain about herself, her job, and her involvement with High Hopes.

Gail has been with High Hopes for several years.  She lives in Franklin with her husband Ben, and together they have three children: two sons Cary and Cayce, and one daughter Kimberly.  With 9 grandchildren to boot, they have a large family.  Gail loves it, she says.  “It’s a lot of fun.”

Gail and Ben are active in their church, where Gail served on the preschool board for about ten years, and both have really grown roots in the Franklin community.

Gail is originally from Amarillo, Texas.  She studied near her hometown, and lived and worked there for many years.  Then one day...
