
Clinical Billing Assistant
Description: The clinic Billing Assistant works closely with the clinic Office Manager, Director of Clinical Services, and third-party billing partners to facilitate resolution of claims and answer questions pertaining to account balances.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Obtaining prior and renewal authorizations for therapy services.

Verify insurance benefits. Review benefits with patient families/caregivers, and documenting in chart.

Assist third party billing company in obtaining missing information/documentation required to resolve claims.

Work directly with patient families/caregivers to resolve questions and concerns regarding patient balance and/or benefit coverage.

Establish payment plans and process electronic patient payments.
-
Assist admin staff in completing annual paperwork and insurance benefit audit.

Review high balance reports and determine action plan with office manager for resolution.

Assist in filing insurance appeals.

Complete invoice process for patients enrolled in TEIS program.

Monitor trends in denial codes of claims.
-
All other duties as assigned.
Reports to/Directly Supervised by:
Clinic Office Manager
Qualifications:
-
High school graduate or equivalent required. Associates or college degree is preferred.

2+ years in a customer service, customer-facing position.
-
Preferred experience in medical office, medical billing and/or collections.

Preferred knowledge of coding, billing and reimbursement of commercial insurance, EOBs, ICD-10, and CPT codes.

Knowledge of medical issues, billing, insurance benefits, ICD-10, therapy terminology, and understanding of HIPAA.
