Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma; Bachelor's Degree Preferred

  • Experience working with young children with and without special needs

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support to the Kindergarten teacher by assisting with class assignments, tests, homework etc.

  • Assist the Kindergarten teacher in implementing the curriculum and educational strategies

  • Modify classroom activities as needed under the direction of the Kindergarten teacher to meet each individual student’s ability level

  • Assist students with lessons and assignments, both individually and in small groups, to reinforce curriculum concepts (i.e. reading books, giving writing assistance, learning computer programs etc.)

  • Enforce rules for acceptable behavior to ensure a productive learning environment

  • Monitor students in multiple settings to ensure a safe environment (i.e. playground, extended care)

  • Support the Kindergarten teacher by completing administrative tasks related to instructional materials (i.e. laminating, copying, filing etc.)

  • Report incidents relating to students to the appropriate personnel

  • Attend meetings and professional development opportunities to acquire information related to job duties and grow professionally

  • Maintain instructional materials and/or files and records

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Comply with FERPA, HIPAA, and High Hopes regulations
