Happy St. Patrick's Day!
It’s St. Patty’s Day again, folks, and we had an excellent time celebrating at High Hopes yesterday!
In honor of the saint whose famous legend tells how he drove all the snakes out of Ireland, we all wore our favorite green outfits. And we tickled all who failed to do so!
Pots of gold, rainbows, and leprechauns were very much in vogue this week for us. Rainbows are always a big deal here at High Hopes. No picture is complete without one! But leprechauns and their gold are something special at this time of year.
We thought it might be fun to sit down with a few of our friends and talk about what they would do if they ever captured a leprechaun! As everyone knows, when you catch a leprechaun, he will grant you three wishes in exchange for his freedom.
The very first thing our friends wanted to know was what a leprechaun looked like. So we described the jolly little men in green hats and coats in great abundant and imaginative detail, and Wyatt drew a picture to help us visualize it!
Next, we naturally needed to know where to go to catch a leprechaun. We thought leprechauns probably wouldn’t ever venture far from their rainbows, since that’s where they keep their pots of gold! Anita drew the rainbow she imagined could lead to a leprechaun’s treasure.
When we got to the part about wishes, everyone got very excited. We imagined catching two leprechauns, so all six of our friends could have one big wish.
Our Firefly friends took their time deciding what to ask for from their leprechaun. Miika, a big fan of circles, wished for as many circles as she could imagine! More musical than geometric, Wyatt wished for a guitar that he could play in the morning and at night. As for Anita, she wanted nothing more than to be like Princess Jasmine!
Our Grasshopper guys were eager to jump in with their own wishes. Benjamin said that if he caught a leprechaun on St. Patrick’s Day, he would wish for it to be Christmas every day! On the subject of Christmas presents, Caleb said he already knew what he wanted for Christmas, but if he caught a leprechaun he would wish for it even sooner: a spaceship! But by far the most popular answer was Asher’s one-word wish: PIZZA!
What will you wish for if you catch a leprechaun today?
Here at High Hopes, we’ll leave the leprechauns alone. We have all we could wish for in the wonderful friends we get to see every day!
Thanks to all of you for being the pots of gold at the end of our rainbow. May the luck of the Irish be with you today and every day!
