Week of the Young Child

Coordinated by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Week of the Young Child is a nation-wide celebration of early childhood education. This annual celebration draws attention to the importance of early childhood education and increases awareness of what that entails, while at the same time encouraging a whole lot of good, all-around family fun.

This year’s Week of the Young Child is next week: April 15-21, 2018!

The NAEYC is the world’s largest early childhood education association, comprising about 60,000 members and a network of 50 local, state, and regional affiliates to advance their mission. Among those affiliates is a chapter for the Nashville Area (NAAEYC).

The NAEYC’s statement of purpose for the Week of the Young Child is this:

The Week of the Young Child was first established in 1971, which means we are nearing the fifty-year mark for this fun and important focus week. Every year, the NAEYC provides the dates and themes for the Week of the Young Child,
