Steven Webber

Steven A. Webber, MBChB, MRCP has devoted his career to improving children’s health as a clinician, researcher and health care administrator. He is trained as a pediatrician, pediatric cardiologist and pediatric transplant physician. In recent years, he has held senior administrative roles including Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, pediatrician-in-chief of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and most recently, as Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Dr. Webber has received continuous funding for his research from the National Institutes of Health for over 25 years. He has published extensively and is the editor/co-editor of several textbooks related to the field of solid organ transplantation. He has held many national and international leadership roles in his field, including presidency of both the International Pediatric Transplant Association and the Pediatric Heart Transplant Study Group. He has also served on the boards of multiple medical societies.

Born in London, Dr. Webber graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School in Bristol, England. He completed both internal medicine and pediatric residencies in the United Kingdom. He continued his training with pediatric cardiology fellowships at the University of British Columbia and B.C. Children’s Hospital and at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh.

He has recently returned to Nashville where he lives with his wife, Jennifer Hill.
